Army Stresses Inter-Agency Collaboration to Boost Security in Anambra

The Nigerian Army has reaffirmed its dedication to working closely with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to strengthen security in Anambra State.

Col. Butrus Yakubu, Commander of the 302 Artillery Regiment (General Support) Cantonment in Onitsha, made the remarks on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Awka.

He emphasized that effective coordination among security agencies is essential for intelligence sharing, operational planning, and rapid response to emerging threats in the state.

Yakubu explained that the visit was intended to familiarize himself with the NSCDC command and to bolster collaboration in areas such as intelligence and information exchange, operational access, and other key security initiatives.

“The Nigerian Army is committed to collaborating with and supporting the NSCDC whenever the need arises,” he said.

He also praised the NSCDC for its contributions to security in Anambra, particularly through its Forward Operating Bases (FOBs), which have enhanced overall stability in the state.

In response, NSCDC State Commandant Mr. Olatunde Maku thanked the Nigerian Army for its continued support, highlighting the importance of inter-agency collaboration in maintaining peace, stability, and operational efficiency.

Maku noted that the military and the NSCDC have a long-standing history of cooperation, including joint personnel training, coordinated operations against vandalism of critical assets, and efforts to curb illegal oil bunkering and other related crimes.

“No single security agency can effectively tackle crime and criminality without sustained synergy and collaboration,” he said, affirming the NSCDC’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening its partnership with the Nigerian Army.
