Army Kills Scores of Terrorists, Rescues 39 Victims in Recent Operations

The Nigerian Army has reported continued successes by its troops across multiple operational theaters, announcing the elimination of several terrorists, the arrest of 11 suspects, and the rescue of 39 kidnapped victims within the past 24 hours.According to a reliable source at the Army Headquarters who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Saturday, these operations were conducted throughout the North East, North Central, and North West regions.The source detailed that troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) eliminated one terrorist and recovered arms and ammunition in separate engagements within Borno State. The troops successfully thwarted attempted attacks in the Dikwa and Gubio Local Government Areas and discovered and disarmed an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted along the Baga–Cross Kauwa road in Kukawa LGA.In Kaduna and Katsina States, troops operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA cleared terrorist hideouts, recovered weapons, and rescued a soldier who had been abducted in July in Zamfara State.Furthermore, in Kogi State, a collaborative effort between troops of 12 Brigade, hybrid forces, and local vigilantes led to the rescue of 17 kidnap victims. The troops tracked the abductors from an abandoned bus to a hideout in Adavi LGA. All victims were safely evacuated and received medical attention.The source also reported that troops of Operations Enduring Peace and Whirl Stroke, operating in Plateau and Benue States, apprehended six suspects for offenses including kidnapping, cattle rustling, and militia activities. They also repelled an extremist assault on Nteng village in Quan-Pan LGA, Plateau, forcing the attackers to retreat after suffering casualties.Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) rescued two kidnap victims in Benue State, one of whom had been held in captivity since July and was abandoned by his captors upon the troops’ arrival.In Niger and Kogi States, three suspected kidnappers were arrested, and operations led to the recovery of cash, arms, ammunition, and other items.In the South-South region, the Joint Task Force (Operation Delta Safe) discovered and destroyed over 5,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil and illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) during anti-oil bunkering operations in Bayelsa and Rivers States.The source stated that the sustained momentum of these operations demonstrates the resolve of the Armed Forces to deny criminals freedom of action across the nation.The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, was cited as continually urging troops to maintain their offensive against terrorists and other criminal elements. The public was also encouraged to continue supporting military efforts by providing timely and credible information to enhance ongoing operations.
