The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, on Wednesday hosted members of the 41 Regular Course Alumni Association, emphasizing the need for joint efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s security.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lt.-Col. Appolonia Anele, in Abuja.
In his remarks, the COAS warmly welcomed his coursemates and expressed heartfelt appreciation for their visit, describing them as “an integral part of his success journey.”
He noted that the friendship and camaraderie built at the Nigerian Defence Academy decades ago have endured over the years, adding that the collective experience and wisdom shared among them continue to positively impact the Nigerian Army and the nation.
Shaibu reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with his colleagues, both serving and retired, to advance national security and uphold the unity that defines their course.
He also disclosed that since his appointment, his coursemates had been actively engaging him in strategic discussions aimed at achieving a safer and more secure country.
The army chief urged them to remain his “eyes and ears,” stressing that their continued support, insight, and operational experience are vital to the success of his leadership.
“Together, we can build a Nigeria that is safer, stronger, and more united,” he affirmed.
Earlier, the President of the 41 Regular Course Alumni Association, retired Maj. Lancelot Anyanya, congratulated Shaibu on his appointment as the 25th Chief of Army Staff.
Anyanya noted that members of the 41 Regular Course have consistently excelled in military service, saying that Shaibu’s elevation brought pride and fulfillment to their colleagues across the armed forces.
He added that Shaibu’s appointment represents the embodiment of professionalism, integrity, and excellence that the course stands for.
Anyanya praised the COAS for his exemplary leadership record, recalling his outstanding qualities since their training days at the Nigerian Defence Academy, where he served as the Academy Cadet Adjutant over three decades ago.
He expressed confidence that Shaibu will continue to lead with distinction and dedication, in line with the vision of President Bola Tinubu for a secure and prosperous Nigeria.
