Arise Television journalist’s death under police investigation

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has commenced a full-scale probe into the circumstances leading to the death of Arise Television anchor/reporter, Ms. Somtochukwu Maduagwu.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the FCT, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja.

Adeh explained that Maduagwu was killed during an armed robbery attack at her residence in the Katampe area of Abuja in the early hours of Monday.

She quoted the Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of the FCT, Mr. Ajao Adewale, as condemning the act, describing it as cruel and unacceptable in any society.

“To this end, the CP has ordered a discreet and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“He has further directed the deployment of intelligence and operational assets to identify, track, and apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime,” she said.

Adeh assured that the command would pursue justice and remain committed to safeguarding lives while preventing similar tragedies.

She appealed to residents to cooperate with investigators by offering credible and timely information that could aid the case.

The spokesperson also encouraged the public to report suspicious activities promptly to frustrate criminal plots.

The CP, through Adeh, sympathized with the bereaved family, colleagues, and associates of the late journalist over the painful loss.
