APC Candidate Commends First Lady’s Efforts in Women’s Welfare and Empowerment

Makurdi, June 16, 2026 — The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Tarka State Constituency, Dr. Mark Nyitse, has praised the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, for her consistent advocacy for women’s welfare, empowerment, and social inclusion.

He expressed the commendation while receiving the First Lady during her official visit to Benue State, describing the engagement as meaningful and highly symbolic.

According to him, the visit underscored her continued efforts in promoting opportunities for women and strengthening their participation in leadership and national development.

Nyitse noted that women in Benue State have been particularly encouraged by her initiatives, which he said have helped amplify voices that were previously underrepresented.

He stated that her programmes reflect a deep concern for families and vulnerable groups, while also reinforcing the importance of women in nation-building.

The APC candidate further appealed for special recognition of women in Tarka Local Government Area, describing them as resilient contributors to community development.

He said the women—many of whom are mothers, widows, and caregivers—have long upheld the legacy of the late Joseph Sarwuan Tarka, a prominent figure in the political history of the Middle Belt.

Nyitse observed that despite their sacrifices and historical contributions, many of these women have not received adequate recognition over the years.

He added that acknowledging them during the First Lady’s visit would strengthen their sense of belonging and restore renewed hope.

In conclusion, he expressed confidence that the First Lady’s engagement with the women of Tarka would leave a lasting positive impression and further strengthen their place in the broader national development agenda.
