Anambra Police Urge Compliance with Tinted Glass Regulations

The Anambra State Police Command has called on residents to cooperate with the ongoing nationwide enforcement of regulations on the use of tinted vehicle windows.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, explained that the exercise aims to enhance public safety rather than punish motorists. He noted that vehicles with unauthorised tinted glasses are frequently used by criminals to evade security checkpoints, conceal their identities, and carry out offences such as armed robbery, kidnapping, and assault.

Ikenga stated that strict enforcement of the law would help reduce crime, improve visibility for security personnel, and protect law-abiding citizens throughout the state.

He also relayed the appeal of the Commissioner of Police in Anambra, CP Ikioye Orutugu, who urged residents to cooperate with officers during the enforcement period. According to him, the initiative is a strategic step towards strengthening security and ensuring the state remains safe for residents and visitors alike.

Motorists were advised to register their tinted vehicles through the official portal https://possap.gov.ng, which the police described as secure and user-friendly.

Meanwhile, the Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State, issued an interim order on October 3 suspending the enforcement of tinted glass permits, pending the determination of a suit filed by human rights lawyer John Akpokpo-Martins (Case No. FHC/WR/103/2025).

In response, Force spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin stated on Saturday that the police had not yet received formal notification of the court order halting enforcement nationwide.
