Anambra Government Strengthens Security with 30 Vehicle Donation to Police

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has handed over 30 Toyota Hilux operational vehicles to the state’s Police Command as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety and law enforcement.

The presentation took place on Thursday in Awka, with the vehicles formally received by the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ikioye Orutugu.

“In a continued push to enhance security across Anambra, we are donating 30 operational vehicles to the Nigeria Police, Anambra Command,” Soludo said. “This initiative is aimed at deepening community safety and strengthening the capacity of our law enforcement agencies.”

Reflecting on the state’s security initiatives, Soludo recalled the inauguration of the Agunechemba and Operation Udo Ga Achị in January 2025 — joint security task forces designed to combat crime and restore peace in vulnerable areas.

He noted that over the past year, these measures have significantly improved security, allowing many indigenes to return to their communities and celebrate the festive season safely.

“The vigilance and dedication of our security agencies have been remarkable,” the governor said. “Their efforts have made it possible for residents to live and move freely without fear.”

Soludo reiterated that security remains a top priority for his administration and described it as a continuous work in progress.

“This new fleet of 30 Hilux vehicles is intended to enhance mobility, improve rapid response capabilities, and support the police in maintaining law and order throughout the state,” he said.

Commissioner Orutugu thanked the governor for the donation, noting that the vehicles will play a critical role in patrolling, crime prevention, and reinforcing the positive trajectory of security in Anambra.

“The strategic investment by the state government signals a firm commitment to protecting lives, fostering economic growth, and ensuring the wellbeing of residents,” he said.

He added, “This boost not only equips officers with modern tools to serve effectively but also reassures communities that their safety remains a central priority for the government.”
