Analyst Urges Gov. Fubara to Balance Loyalty with Development in Rivers State

A political analyst, Dr. Neville Obagedo, has urged Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to strike a balance between political loyalty and development priorities as he resumes office.

Obagedo, a lecturer in the Department of Political Science at the University of Benin, made the remark on Friday while reacting to Fubara’s return to office after the lifting of the six-month emergency rule declared in the state by President Bola Tinubu on March 18 and ended on September 18.

He explained that while loyalty to political allies remains vital in sustaining leadership, development initiatives that improve the lives of citizens must not be neglected.

“Loyalty is not just a moral obligation but a political necessity, especially in systems where alliances and networks play a critical role in governance,” Obagedo said.

Similarly, Mr. Iwalomhe Donald, a prominent politician in Rivers State, advised Fubara to prioritise the welfare of citizens by focusing on infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic growth.

“By concentrating on development, Governor Fubara can build a legacy based on prosperity and tangible progress for the people of Rivers,” Donald added.
