Mr. Samuel Ajose, Chief Executive Officer of SMA Foundation, visited the Akran royal family in Badagry on Tuesday to express his condolences following the passing of the traditional ruler.
At the palace, Ajose described the death as a significant loss to both Badagry and Lagos State.
“This is not the time Akran should have left us, but God knows best,” he said.
He explained that the purpose of his visit was to offer comfort to the family and assure them of full support during the burial arrangements.
Ajose also reflected on the late ruler’s 89th birthday celebration in 2025, describing it as a moment of gratitude and inspiration.
“We are not mourning alone; we are celebrating a life well lived and the impact he made,” he said.
He further praised the Akran as a peaceful and unifying leader, noting that Badagry has remained calm and stable even as unrest affects other parts of the country.
“Our prayer is that the peace he fostered will continue to guide and protect this community,” Ajose added.
Responding, Prince Adeyemi Akran acknowledged the pain of losing a father but encouraged people to focus on celebrating his enduring legacy.
“Today, I choose to celebrate rather than mourn. His contributions to Badagry and beyond give us strength,” he said.
The late Akran ascended the throne on April 23, 1977, and reigned for 48 years, leaving behind a legacy of peace, unity, and steady community development across Badagry and its environs.
He was also a former journalist, member of the judicial service commission, and patron of multiple social and professional organisations.
The royal family and community continue to honour his memory while upholding the values he championed throughout his reign.
