Pastor Foluke Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has been appointed Chancellor of Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State.
Her appointment was confirmed by the university’s Governing Council in a statement issued in Lagos by its media officer, Mr Olawale Adekoya.
Adeboye was appointed Chancellor on Feb. 21, shortly after receiving an honorary Doctor of Humanity (Honoris Causa) during the institution’s 15th convocation ceremony held on Feb. 18.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, described the appointment as “a new dawn where scholarship aligns with spirituality,” adding that Adeboye’s leadership and values would reinforce the institution’s guiding principles.
“Pastor Foluke Adeboye embodies a legacy that transcends pulpit and platform,” he said.
“For decades, she has functioned not merely as consort to a global spiritual leader, but as an institutional builder.
“She is a counsellor of nations and a matriarch whose disciplined grace has strengthened one of the world’s largest Christian movements.
“Her honorary doctorate was more than ceremonial; it was an academic recognition of a lifetime devoted to education, youth mentorship, family values and moral development.”
Asikhia noted that the role of Chancellor goes beyond symbolism, describing it as a position that safeguards institutional ethos and provides moral direction.
According to him, the Chancellor presides over convocations, confers degrees, protects traditions and lends moral authority to the university’s strategic direction.
He added that Adeboye’s appointment is expected to enhance the university’s moral framework, operational efficiency and global partnerships.
Her visibility across faith-based, educational and humanitarian networks, he said, could open opportunities for collaborations, philanthropic engagements and values-driven leadership initiatives.
The 15th convocation ceremony also saw the graduation of 1,924 students, including 96 First Class honourees and 22 PhD awardees.
