NIPSS Inaugurates 105 Participants for Senior Executive Course 48

The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, near Jos, on Monday inaugurated 105 participants for its Senior Executive Course (SEC) 48.

The Director-General of the institute, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, congratulated the participants on their successful selection, describing their admission as recognition of their professional accomplishments and leadership potential.

Omotayo said the participants would undergo a 10-month rigorous academic programme designed to shape the policy direction of the nation.

“Your admission into this institute is a recognition of your professional accomplishments, leadership potential and the strategic importance of the roles you occupy in national life.

“Participating in the Senior Executive Course is not merely an academic exercise; it is a call to national service that demands intellectual discipline, ethical leadership and openness to diverse perspectives,” he said.

He described the theme of SEC 48, ‘Orange Economy and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development in Nigeria,’ as timely and strategic, especially in the context of Nigeria’s development aspirations.

According to him, the theme challenges traditional development models that rely heavily on extractive resources and public sector dominance, while encouraging policymakers to recognise creativity, talent and cultural heritage as strategic economic assets.

“As our nation seeks to diversify its economy, reduce unemployment and empower young people, the Orange Economy presents a compelling and underutilised pathway.

“Sectors such as culture, tourism, media, fashion, film, music and digital innovation are central to inclusive growth and national competitiveness in a global knowledge-driven economy,” he added.

Inaugurating the participants, Governor Caleb Mutfwang commended NIPSS management for its continued commitment to policy research, leadership development and nation-building.

Represented by his deputy, Mrs. Josephine Piyo, the governor said the theme of SEC 48 aligns with Nigeria’s aspiration for innovation-driven and inclusive growth.

He noted that over the years, NIPSS has remained a critical intellectual resource, shaping leaders and ideas that influence governance and economic planning.

Mutfwang pledged the Plateau Government’s continued support and collaboration with the institute in promoting evidence-based policymaking, rigorous research and informed executive decision-making.
