Nigerian Navy Commissions Primary Healthcare Centre in Adamawa to Boost Rural Healthcare

The Nigerian Navy has commissioned a new Primary Healthcare Centre in Mullah, Hyema Community, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa, aimed at improving access to quality healthcare services. The project was executed under the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Special Intervention Quick Impact Project, designed to strengthen civil-military cooperation and support community development.

Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, the Chief of Naval Staff, represented by Rear Admiral Adamu Yahaya, stated that the initiative demonstrates the Navy’s commitment to national development beyond security. The healthcare centre includes a maternity ward, general ward, consultation room, pharmacy, laboratory, and a solar-powered borehole, ensuring uninterrupted services for residents.

The project was facilitated by Rear Admiral Kohath Levi, a native of the community, and received support from the Adamawa State Government, Hong LGA, and local residents. Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, represented by the Permanent Secretary of Health, praised the Navy’s leadership and the initiative’s potential to reduce preventable illnesses, improve maternal and child health, and provide affordable healthcare closer to rural populations.

Community representatives also pledged to protect and maintain the facility, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the Armed Forces and local communities for sustainable development and wellbeing.
