3 bodies recovered, 4 rescued from Yaba building collapse

Emergency responders have recovered another body from the rubble of a three-storey building that collapsed on Friday night in Yaba, Lagos.

Acting Head of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Lagos Operations Office, Mrs. Ibitayo Adenike, confirmed on Sunday that the discovery brings the total number of casualties to seven—three dead and four rescued.

The building, located at No. 333 Borno Street, Alagomeji, reportedly caved in around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, trapping several people under the debris. Adenike said search and rescue efforts are still ongoing.

Agencies involved in the operation include the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Lagos State Building Control Agency, the Nigeria Police Force, and other supporting bodies.
