Abeokuta, June 6, 2026 – Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspects in Ijebu-Ode in connection with a kidnapping and murder case reported in Edo State.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the development in a statement released on Saturday in Abeokuta.
He said the suspects were picked up in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode following an intelligence-led operation carried out by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command.
Babaseyi explained that the arrests followed an earlier update issued on June 4 regarding the apprehension of the suspects by operatives of the Nigeria Forest Security Service.
Preliminary investigations, according to him, showed that the individuals are wanted in connection with an ongoing case of kidnapping and murder reported in the Okada area of Edo State.
He further disclosed that intelligence reports linked the suspects to a seven-man kidnapping network allegedly involved in the incident under investigation.
During the operation, officers reportedly recovered a pair of police camouflage uniforms and three mobile phones from the suspects as exhibits.
The police spokesperson noted that the offences were allegedly committed outside Ogun State.
He added that the suspects and recovered items would be handed over to the Edo State Police Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Mr Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers involved for their professionalism and effective coordination during the investigation.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to preventing criminals from using Ogun State as a safe haven or transit route for illegal activities.
Ojajuni also assured residents that the command would continue to strengthen intelligence-led policing and collaboration with other security agencies to enhance public safety.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to curb crime.
