Red Cross Equips Kano FRSC Staff with Rescue and Emergency Response Skills

Kano, June 4, 2026 — The Kano State branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society has trained personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on emergency response and rescue operations aimed at strengthening their lifesaving capacity.

Speaking during the training session held on Thursday in Kano, the Executive Secretary of the Red Cross branch, Alhaji Musa-Abdullahi, said the programme was designed to enhance participants’ practical knowledge in emergency management, rescue procedures and lifesaving interventions.

He emphasised the importance of Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid training, noting that FRSC personnel are often among the first responders at accident scenes and other emergencies.

Musa-Abdullahi added that the organisation remains committed to supporting agencies engaged in humanitarian services and emergency response across the country.

In his remarks, the Sector Commander, Idris Lawan, praised the Nigerian Red Cross Society for its continued collaboration with the corps and its contribution to capacity building.

He encouraged participants to take the training seriously by paying close attention and seeking clarification where necessary to fully benefit from the exercise.

Topics covered during the session included safety and security, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), management of bone and joint injuries, casualty triage, and manual handling techniques, among others.
