Lagos — May 27, 2026: The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has conveyed his goodwill message to Muslim faithful in Lagos and across Nigeria as they mark Eid-el-Kabir.
In a statement released in Lagos through his Chief Press Secretary, Dave Agboola, on Wednesday, the Speaker extended his greetings to the Muslim community and joined them in celebrating the Islamic festival.
He described Eid-el-Kabir as a period deeply rooted in sacrifice, reflection, and appreciation to God, noting that it also serves as a reminder of the importance of peace, harmony, and mutual respect in society.
According to him, the celebration goes beyond religious observance, offering Nigerians a chance to strengthen unity and embrace shared responsibility in nation-building.
He added that the festive period should inspire renewed dedication to national development and encourage citizens to support leadership efforts aimed at driving growth and improving living standards.
Obasa also praised Nigerians, especially members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for what he called a strong and impressive turnout during the recently concluded party primaries. He said the level of participation reflects growing confidence in the political process and support for the current administration.
He further stated that the engagement demonstrated public belief in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and the direction of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said continues to shape national policies.
“The turnout at the APC primaries reflects the strength of our democratic process and the trust citizens have in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Renewed Hope Agenda. It is clear that Nigerians are committed to supporting policies that promote development and stability,” he said.
The Speaker urged Muslims to observe the celebration responsibly and remain prayerful for the continued peace, progress, and stability of Lagos State and the country at large.
He also encouraged families to celebrate with moderation, emphasizing the need to sustain unity and collective commitment toward building a more prosperous nation. He concluded by wishing Muslims a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
