Enugu, May 18, 2026 The Ndigbo Unity Forum (NUF), a socio-cultural organisation, has called on Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, to establish a judicial panel of inquiry to investigate the reported attack and killings in Eziobodo and neighbouring communities in Owerri West Local Government Area.
The appeal was made in Enugu by the group’s Chairman, Chief Augustine Chukwudum, while addressing journalists.
The organisation also urged authorities to ensure that those responsible for the violence are identified and brought to justice.
Reports indicate that armed men stormed Eziobodo and nearby communities on Wednesday, opening fire on residents in the area, which also hosts the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.
The incident reportedly caused widespread panic among residents across the state.
Chukwudum warned that the situation should not be treated lightly, stressing the need for urgent government action.
He further advised communities across the South-East to strengthen local security structures to help prevent further attacks by criminal elements.
The group also appealed to the Federal Government to intervene and support efforts aimed at restoring peace and security in the affected areas.
He emphasized that swift and coordinated action was necessary to prevent a recurrence of such violent incidents.
