Abuja, May 18, 2026 The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has concluded the sale of Expression of Interest forms for aspirants seeking its presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
However, the party announced an extension of the deadline for other elective positions, including governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and State Houses of Assembly, moving it from May 17 to May 24, 2026.
This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by the party’s National Secretary, Mr Ikenna Enekweizu.
According to the statement, screening of aspirants who have obtained and completed their Expression of Interest forms will commence on Tuesday and run until May 26.
It also stated that the collection and submission of nomination forms for candidates who scale through the screening process will begin on Wednesday and close on May 26, with no extension to be granted.
The party urged all aspirants to strictly adhere to the timetable and guidelines.
It directed candidates to appear for screening and pre-qualification exercises at designated centres nationwide, accompanied by required documents such as academic certificates, birth certificate or age declaration, passport photographs, voter’s card, party membership card and curriculum vitae.
The NDC further specified that all documents must be submitted in six copies.
It explained that the screening process would assess candidates based on public acceptability, local dynamics, competence, capacity and personal character.
The party also noted that its affirmative action policy would give consideration to women, youths and persons with disabilities during the process.
It encouraged aspirants to explore consensus arrangements where possible, adding that only those cleared during screening would be eligible to purchase nomination forms.
The party reaffirmed that the deadlines would be strictly enforced without further extension.
