2027 Elections: NNPP Extends Nomination Form Deadline

Lagos, May 11, 2026 The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has postponed the deadline for the purchase and submission of nomination forms for the 2027 general elections by an additional one week.

The party had earlier scheduled May 10 as the commencement date for the sale of nomination forms.

The extension was announced in a statement released on Monday in Lagos by the party’s Secretary-General, Comrade Ogini Olaposi.

According to Olaposi, the decision followed a directive issued by the NNPP Board of Trustees to the National Working Committee (NWC), with the approval of the party’s founder, Dr Boniface Aniebonam.

He explained that the adjustment became necessary due to delays by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in uploading the logo of the faction led by Dr Agbo Gilbert Major, which the party described as its authentic leadership.

Under the revised timetable, aspirants now have until May 17 to obtain and submit their nomination forms.

The party also maintained its previously announced fees for aspirants seeking various offices. Presidential hopefuls are to pay N5 million, governorship aspirants N2.5 million, senatorial candidates N1.5 million, House of Representatives aspirants N1 million, while House of Assembly forms cost N500,000.

Olaposi added that nomination forms would be provided free of charge to women and persons living with disabilities. He also stated that serving elected officials seeking another term would receive automatic tickets after purchasing the required forms.

He noted that the screening exercise for candidates would still hold according to the dates earlier announced by the party.

The NNPP leadership also appealed to aspirants to remain patient over the delay involving INEC, expressing confidence that the issue would soon be resolved while reaffirming the party’s determination to field candidates for all elective positions in the 2027 elections.
