U.S. President Donald Trump has said the ongoing armed conflict between the United States and Iran could last up to four weeks.
In a telephone interview with the British newspaper Daily Mail on Sunday, Trump stated that the duration of the operation had been anticipated from the beginning.
“From the outset, it was assumed that it would take about four weeks,” he said, adding that the size of Iran made the timeline realistic, though it could be shorter.
According to the president, three U.S. soldiers have been killed and five others seriously injured during the military operation. He described the fallen personnel as “great people” and acknowledged that further casualties remain a possibility.
Iran has reportedly launched counterattacks targeting U.S. military bases in the Gulf region and other strategic sites.
Meanwhile, Israel’s Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, offered a similar outlook, saying Israel had achieved significant results in Iran within the first 48 hours of operations but warned that several more days of fighting were expected.
Zamir’s remarks reflect the position of the Israel Defense Forces as tensions continue to escalate in the region.
