Zamfara SSG’s Brother, Former PDP Chairmanship Aspirant Dump Party for APC

A brother of the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Bello Nakwada, has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection was confirmed in a statement released on Thursday in Gusau by the APC Publicity Secretary in the state, Malam Yusuf Idris.

According to Idris, the defector, Alhaji Bello Nakwada, was a notable supporter and campaign financier of Governor Dauda Lawal during the 2023 general elections.

He also disclosed that a former PDP chairmanship aspirant for Gusau Local Government Area, Hon. Hassan Idris Gusau, has equally joined the APC.

Idris said both politicians, along with their supporters, were formally received in Abuja by the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle.

Speaking separately, the new APC members praised the internal unity within the ruling party, describing it as inclusive and fair to all members. They attributed this atmosphere to the leadership style of key party figures, including Dr Matawalle and Senator Abdulaziz Yari.

The defectors pledged full loyalty to the APC, stating that their supporters and associates had endorsed their decision and were ready to work towards the party’s success.

While welcoming them, Matawalle assured the new entrants of equal rights and privileges within the APC. He further urged them to mobilise their supporters to participate actively in the party’s ongoing electronic membership registration exercise.
