Wikki Tourists, Nasarawa United Share Spoils in NPFL Matchday 24 Clash

Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi and Nasarawa United FC of Lafia settled for a 1–1 draw in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 24 encounter on Sunday at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.

Nasarawa United opened the scoring in the 28th minute after Izuchukwu Chimezie took advantage of a defensive lapse to put the visitors ahead.

Wikki Tourists responded before halftime, with Jonathan Mairiga finding the net in the 41st minute to restore parity as both sides went into the break level.

the match was closely fought, with both teams showing organisation, discipline and strong tactical awareness.

Wikki Tourists came close to securing maximum points in the second half but failed to convert a penalty, while no further goals were recorded for the remainder of the game.

The result leaves Wikki Tourists on 28 points from 24 matches, occupying 14th position on the NPFL standings.

Speaking after the match, sports analyst Bala Sani described the encounter as entertaining, noting that Nasarawa United showed superior technical coordination and appeared well-prepared.

Wikki Tourists’ Chief Coach, Bala Saleh, attributed his team’s overall performance to fatigue, citing the strain of playing three consecutive matches in a short period.

Despite the setback, Saleh expressed confidence ahead of their next fixture against Katsina United.

Meanwhile, Nasarawa United Assistant Coach, Stephen Moga, praised his players for their professionalism, saying they adhered to the tactical plan and handled the pressure of an away fixture effectively.
