Deputy UN Secretary-General Amina Mohammed has expressed gratitude to attendees of the Global Citizen Festival in New York for raising their voices for justice and keeping hope alive for a better world.
The annual music event, held in Central Park at the close of the UN General Assembly’s high-level week, is a flagship campaign by Global Citizen, the world’s largest movement dedicated to ending extreme poverty. This year’s festival featured performances by global stars including Shakira, Cardi B, and Rosé.
Addressing the crowd, Mohammed reminded them that only five years remain to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UN’s roadmap for building a fairer, more sustainable future for both people and the planet.
“We’re making progress, but it’s not happening fast enough, and time is running out,”
