The University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) has recognised and rewarded exceptional staff during its 2025 Annual Staff and Corporate Awards in Gwagwalada. Acting CMD Prof. Bob Ukonu praised winners for their dedication, highlighting improvements in maternal health outcomes, with Nurse Usman Mariam named Best Staff of the Year and the labour ward unit awarded Best Department.
The awards, instituted in 2017, aim to motivate staff and encourage excellence. Board Chairman Dr. Ikechukwu Odikpo announced plans to expand the pharmacy production unit, create a marketing unit, and launch the “Conquer Sudden Death” health awareness programme in 2026. NGOs including PENGASSAN Foundation, Stanley Inye Lawson Foundation, and the Cuddle School Abuja also received recognition.
