The daughter of President Bola Tinubu, Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, has unveiled a scholarship scheme for over 1,000 indigent students seeking admission into Havilla University in Cross River.
Tinubu-Ojo unveiled the scheme on Tuesday to commemorate her second anniversary as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the university.
She said the scheme, described as a “tuition-free award,” would be valued at N400,000 for each student and would cover the 2025/2026 academic session.
Tinubu-Ojo, who is also the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, said the initiative reflected her commitment to youth empowerment and educational advancement.
She described education as the only leveler between the rich and the poor in society, emphasising that every Nigerian youth deserves access to quality education to secure a brighter future for the nation.
Tinubu-Ojo also commended the Chancellor of the institution, Jones Tangban, for what she described as exceptional leadership that has positioned the university among leading institutions in Africa.
She urged prospective beneficiaries to take advantage of the opportunity with seriousness both now and in the future.
In his remarks, Tangban commended Tinubu-Ojo for the gesture, noting that the scholarship aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration, even though the awards are personally funded.
Tinubu-Ojo also inaugurated the Folasade Tinubu-Ojo Complex at the institution.
She further laid the foundation for the Folasade Tinubu-Ojo Centre for Vocational Studies at the university.
