Mustapha Sule Lamido, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has formally entered the race for the 2027 Jigawa State governorship election.
The announcement was made in Dutse on Tuesday when he submitted his nomination form to the party. He is the son of former Jigawa State governor and PDP leader, Sule Lamido, and also served as the party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 election.
He said his decision to contest followed extensive consultations with party stakeholders across the state, expressing confidence in the PDP’s ability to address both internal challenges and broader national issues.
According to him, the PDP remains a party with a strong record of delivering development-focused policies, which he believes still resonates with Nigerians.
He also criticised the performance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of failing to implement effective policies that drive sustainable socio-economic growth.
Lamido appealed for the support of party members, promising to uphold the PDP’s principles of patriotism, service, and commitment to public welfare if elected.
