Stakeholders Set to Launch Nollywood Cultural Festival Across Europe

The organisers of the annual Nollywood Cultural Heritage Festival have unveiled plans to stage the prestigious event in Belgium and other cities across Europe.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Belgian Embassy in Abuja, the festival’s founder, Chief Agility Onwurah, said the initiative is designed to strengthen cultural ties and promote Nigeria’s creative industry on the global stage.

Scheduled for October 2–12, the festival will showcase Nigeria as a destination for culture, tourism, and film, while leveraging Nollywood’s global appeal. The programme will feature cultural performances, visits to historical landmarks, artistic showcases, and interactions with local communities in major European cities, including Brussels.

Onwurah explained that the project aims to encourage cultural exchange, foster collaborations with international filmmakers, and open fresh opportunities for Nollywood practitioners.

The European delegation will be led by Dr. Emeka Rollas, National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), alongside other key stakeholders in the industry.

Belgian Ambassador to Nigeria, Pieter Leenknegt, commended the initiative and pledged his country’s support in deepening cultural diplomacy through film and culture.

Other members of the Nollywood team include Abubakar Yakubu, AGN National Secretary; Linda Ekezie, Project Manager for the Europe Tour; Ifeoma Okeke-Ozude, Chief of Staff to the AGN President; and veteran actor Grace Amah.
