Sokoto Governor Mourns Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, Describes His Death as an Irreplaceable Loss to Nigeria, Muslim World

Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu, has expressed profound sadness over the passing of eminent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.

In a statement released on Thursday by his Director-General of Media and Publicity, Malam Abubakar Bawa, the governor described the late cleric as a steadfast scholar who devoted his entire life to teaching, preserving, and spreading Islamic knowledge within Nigeria and beyond.

Aliyu said the death of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi is a major loss not only to his family and the people of Bauchi State, but to the whole nation and the global Muslim community.

“Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi dedicated his life to Islamic propagation, particularly in promoting Qur’anic memorisation among children,” he said.

The governor noted that the revered scholar played a significant role in fostering national unity and encouraging peaceful coexistence across the country.

According to Aliyu, the cleric’s passing leaves a vacuum that will be difficult to fill, given his decades of impactful service to Islam and the Muslim Ummah.

He prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the late scholar, asking that his good deeds be accepted and that he be granted the highest ranks in Jannatul Firdaus. Aliyu also prayed for strength and consolation for the family he left behind.

“On behalf of the government and people of Sokoto State, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Bauchi State, as well as to his immediate family,” the governor added.
