Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State has ordered the temporary closure of unauthorised trailer parks at Zariagi in Lokoja and Osara in Adavi Local Government Areas for one month.
The directive, announced on Tuesday in Lokoja, was prompted by growing security concerns linked to the areas.
Ododo explained that intelligence reports revealed the parks were being exploited by criminals masquerading as truck operators, highlighting the need to protect residents and maintain public safety.
Trailer operators have been given one month to relocate from these and other unauthorised locations, especially during restricted hours, to comply with the order.
He instructed security agencies to ensure strict closure implementation, preventing the areas from being used as hideouts and strengthening overall safety operations in the state.
“By working together, we can create a Kogi where every resident feels secure, enjoys access to basic rights, and can live and work without fear,” the governor emphasized, urging cooperation from all stakeholders.
