The Salute Nigeria Initiative has entered a strategic partnership with the Pat Fernandes Foundation to expand opportunities for Nigerian youths through international employment, technical training, and global education support.
The partnership was formalised during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Abuja.
Director-General of the Salute Nigeria Initiative, Amb. Chielo Ojirika, said the collaboration—tagged The Nigeria Industrial Revolution Project (NIRP)—is designed to promote youth empowerment, job creation, and educational advancement.
Ojirika, who also serves as Nigeria’s Cultural Ambassador to Germany, said the alliance will leverage global networks to secure employment opportunities for Nigerian youths in countries such as Germany, Denmark, and Poland.
He noted that the initiative complements the upcoming Nigerian German Investment and Cultural Expo (NGICE) in Berlin, aimed at showcasing Nigeria’s investment potential and strengthening economic ties with Germany. The expo is being organised in partnership with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and relevant ministries and agencies.
Chairman of the Pat Fernandes Foundation, Mr. Patrick Fernandes, highlighted the foundation’s previous efforts, including sponsoring Nigerian youths to study in India since 2017. He said the new programme will offer two major opportunities: international job placements in Europe and technical training for skilled and semi-skilled youths.
Fernandes said the global labour market’s shift toward technical skills presents significant opportunities, especially in trades such as welding, carpentry, electrical electronics, and mechanical fitting.
Through the programme, participants will undertake a two-year diploma abroad, followed by industry placements with job contracts of up to three years. Successful candidates are expected to earn at least €1,400 monthly, excluding bonuses—potentially saving up to ₦30 million over two years.
He added that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda by equipping young Nigerians with globally relevant skills and improving their financial independence.
According to him, Europe’s ageing workforce has created a growing demand for technical professionals, making African countries key contributors to filling the talent gap.
“With this partnership, thousands of Nigerian youths will have the opportunity to build careers abroad, gain exposure, and eventually return home to support the Nigeria Industrial Revolution Project,” he said.
