Rivers Ijaw Group Endorses Tinubu for Second Term

A Rivers-based socio-political organisation, the Rivers Ijaw People’s Congress (RIPCO), has said that Nigeria is making steady progress under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

The group stated this at a press conference held on Monday in Port Harcourt, where the statement was read by its leader, Sen. George Sekibo.

The statement was co-signed by the Director-General of the organisation, Mr Rowland Sekibo, and the Secretary, Mr Erastus Awortu.

Sekibo said that President Tinubu had set Nigeria on a path of sustained development, noting that his administration had opened new corridors for cross-country commerce and supported the growth of small and medium-scale enterprises.

According to him, the president’s performance warranted a second term in office to consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“It is the collective decision of the Rivers Ijaw people to urge the president to declare his intention to seek re-election.

“This decision followed extensive deliberations and reflections on Tinubu’s achievements in human capital development, economic growth and infrastructure, among others.

“On behalf of the Rivers Ijaw people, we hereby proudly adopt President Bola Tinubu as our presidential candidate for the 2027 election,” Sekibo said.

He added that re-electing the president would ensure sustainability and consolidation of his policies and development initiatives.

Sekibo cited the establishment of the University of Environment and Technology, the completion of the Bodo–Bonny Road and the ongoing rehabilitation of the East–West Road as evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare of Rivers State and its people.

He also commended the president for appointing no fewer than 30 indigenes of Rivers State into positions of authority in his administration.
