RIMI (KATSINA STATE), June 26, 2026 – The Katsina State Government has intensified efforts to improve water supply across communities, with dozens of projects already completed under the current administration.
Governor Dikko Radda disclosed this on Thursday while commissioning the Tsagero Small Town Water Supply Scheme in Rimi Local Government Area.
According to the governor, 32 out of the 66 water projects awarded by his administration have been completed, representing about 48 per cent of the total projects.
He explained that the newly inaugurated scheme would provide clean and safe drinking water to residents of Tsagero and surrounding communities, while also contributing to improved sanitation, healthcare and local economic activities.
Radda described access to potable water as a fundamental requirement for human well-being and sustainable community development.
He noted that the state government had continued to invest significantly in the water sector through the construction, rehabilitation and expansion of water infrastructure across different parts of the state.
The governor said ongoing initiatives include Phase 1B of the Zobe Water Supply Project, rehabilitation of water treatment plants and storage facilities, installation of pumps and valves, as well as the expansion of small-town water schemes.
He added that development partners were also supporting the sector through initiatives such as the World Bank-backed SURWASH and SPIN programmes.
Radda further revealed that the government was implementing sanitation projects, including the construction of public sanitation facilities and household toilets in several communities.
He assured residents that his administration would continue to execute additional water projects aimed at expanding access to safe and dependable water supplies throughout the state.
The governor also called on community leaders and residents to safeguard the newly completed facility and ensure its proper maintenance for long-term use.
He expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Water Resources, the Small Town Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (STOWASSA), contractors and other stakeholders for their contributions to the successful delivery of the project.
The commissioning of the Tsagero scheme marks another step in the state’s broader effort to strengthen water infrastructure and improve living conditions for communities across Katsina.
