The Police Command in Kano State has launched an investigation into an alleged attack on the household of Haruna Bashir at Dorayi Charanchi Quarters, which claimed the lives of a 35-year-old woman, Fatima Abubakar, and her six children.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, stating that the command received a distress call at about 12:10 p.m. reporting the incident.
According to Kiyawa, the victims were attacked by unknown hoodlums who reportedly broke into the residence and used dangerous weapons.
He said the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, immediately deployed a police team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Isah-Mani, to the scene.
“The bodies were evacuated and taken to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where they were confirmed dead,” he said.
Kiyawa added that the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, ACP Wada Jarma, had been directed to lead a comprehensive investigation aimed at identifying and arresting those responsible.
He said the police command extended its condolences to the bereaved family, residents of Dorayi Charanchi, and the people of Kano State.
