Ado-Ekiti, May 15, 2026 The Ekiti State Police Command has dismissed a police sergeant, Osayingbemi Temitope, following his alleged involvement in misconduct linked to the use of illegal substances.
This was contained in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Friday by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Sunday Abutu.
According to the statement, the officer was seen in a viral video acting in an unruly manner in Ikole-Ekiti on May 9, after reportedly taking prohibited substances.
Abutu said the officer was immediately taken for medical and psychological evaluation and also subjected to internal disciplinary processes.
He noted that while the psychological assessment indicated the officer was emotionally stable, medical tests reportedly detected traces of tobacco and amphetamine in his system.
Further investigations, according to him, showed that the officer admitted to using illicit drugs.
The Command stated that disciplinary proceedings were concluded and the officer was found guilty of misconduct.
He added that the recommendation for his dismissal was approved, leading to his immediate removal from service.
Abutu reiterated that the police would not tolerate indiscipline or any behaviour capable of undermining the integrity of the Force.
He also conveyed that the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Falade Michael, had urged officers and men of the Command to remain professional, disciplined and accountable in the discharge of their duties.
