Police Capture Kidnap Suspects, Free Victim in Ondo

Akure, April 14, 2026 — Police operatives in Ondo State have arrested a suspected kidnapper and safely rescued a victim in Isua-Akoko, located in Akoko South-East Local Government Area.

The state police spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed in a statement that the arrest followed a report filed on April 10. A resident, identified as Ahmadu, had informed officers at the Isua Division that two young men who travelled to Ipesi-Akoko for cattle grazing failed to return together, raising concerns about one of them.

Using information provided by the victim, police tracked down a suspect at Obasanjo Motor Park in Isua in the early hours of the morning. The individual, who had a visible head injury, was apprehended and later confessed to involvement in the crime. The victim subsequently identified him as one of the attackers.

Police said the rescued individual received medical treatment, while the suspect has been handed over to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation and will be prosecuted upon completion of the case.
