Ado-Ekiti, June 5, 2026 — A 26-year-old man, Adesuyi Kayode, was on Friday brought before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged possession of a stolen goat.
Kayode, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing a one-count charge bordering on unlawful possession of livestock suspected to have been stolen.
The prosecutor, Insp. Elijah Adejare, told the court that the offence occurred on May 24 at about 11 p.m. in Ikole-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant was found in possession of one goat believed to have been stolen.
According to the prosecution, the offence is contrary to Section 345 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the matter to allow the prosecution review the case file and prepare its witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
His counsel, Mrs Blessing Falaye, applied for bail, assuring the court that the defendant would comply with all bail conditions and would not abscond.
Chief Magistrate, Mrs Kehinde Awosika, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned until June 25 for hearing.
