Two men were on Friday handed over to the operatives of the Swift Response Squad (SRS) Unit of the Oyo State Police Command, Dugbe in Ibadan for allegedly impersonating officials of the State’s signage agency.

The suspects, led by Mr. Isaac Acquayeh were also alleged to have illegally accosted an unnamed resident from where the sum of N100,000 was stolen from the car of the complainant who is said to be a banker with a commercial bank in Ibadan.

Trouble started for the duo when the victim snapped the fake OYSAA identity card on Mr Acquayeh and subsequently posted same to one of the social media handles belonging the state governor, Engr Seyi Makinde.

Worried by the incident, the governor reportedly ordered the Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA) to immediately step into the case with a bid to identify the perpetrators and bring them to book.

Complying to the directive, the agency on Friday stormed the Aleshiloye area of Ibadan where the suspects were arrested and quizzed by the agency’s officials.

Traders and local government officials were full of praises to the agency for the arrest, pleading that the suspects are not allowed back to the location.

The traders complained that the suspects have become miscreants harassing and tormenting residents and traders in the Aleshiloye area of Ibadan.

While apprehended, the same fake officer, Acquayeh was seen with identity card of another agency, Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue.

OYSAA’s Director of Operations, Mr. Niyi Lawal who led the arrest told Accountable Nigeria that the suspects were handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
