Ondo Govt. spends N4bn on schools’ renovation, furniture

The Ondo State Government has invested over N4 billion in the renovation of public schools to enhance the learning environment for students and teachers across the state.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Akure.

Ajibefun said the funds were used to renovate 78 public primary and secondary schools, including classrooms and laboratories, as well as to provide new furniture. He explained that the projects cut across the three senatorial districts of the state.

“Right now, renovation of schools, classrooms, and laboratories is ongoing all over the state. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is spending a lot to revamp schools, not only in terms of quality and standards but also in facilities and infrastructure,” he said.

The commissioner added that the state government is also prioritising teacher training to ensure the delivery of quality education.

Ajibefun further revealed plans to fully digitalise primary and secondary education by 2026, aligning with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s vision of transforming the education sector.

“The governor is very passionate about revamping the education sector, and part of that commitment is to enhance quality, standard, and administration through digitalisation,” he added.
