Asaba, May 27, 2026 — Former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has formally resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing recent developments within the party in Delta State.
His resignation was conveyed in a letter dated May 22 and addressed to the APC Chairman of Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
The development was confirmed on Wednesday by his media aide, Mr. Sunday Areh, in a statement released in Asaba.
Omo-Agege recently participated in the APC senatorial primary election for Delta Central but was defeated by Senator Ede Dafinone.
According to the statement, the former lawmaker explained that his decision followed extensive consultations with political allies and supporters, adding that changes within the Delta APC influenced his exit from the party.
He reportedly stated that remaining in the APC would no longer allow him to effectively pursue the interests of Delta Central, Delta State, and the country at large.
Omo-Agege also expressed appreciation to the APC for the opportunity to serve as Deputy President of the 9th Senate during his time in the party.
In his resignation letter, he requested that his name be removed from the party’s membership records and communication platforms.
The former senator further assured supporters of his continued commitment to the political and developmental interests of Delta Central and Nigeria, stressing that he would continue his activities outside the APC.
