The Police Command in Ogun State has announced plans to conduct a two-day shooting range exercise for its officers from Tuesday to Wednesday at the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Monday.
Babaseyi said the exercise was part of ongoing training programmes aimed at enhancing operational readiness and improving officers’ marksmanship skills.
He advised residents and commuters around the Alamala area to exercise caution and avoid the marked vicinity throughout the duration of the exercise.
“Residents and commuters around the area are advised to exercise caution and avoid the marked vicinity during the exercise.
“The command assures the public that strict safety measures are in place, and the sounds of gunfire that may be heard during the exercise should not cause any panic,” he said.
Babaseyi appealed for the cooperation and understanding of the public, stressing that adherence to safety instructions would ensure a smooth exercise while safeguarding lives and property.
He also urged residents to report any suspicious activities to the police through the Gateway Shield toll-free line 0800 000 9111 and other emergency contact numbers of the command.
