NYSC calls for security agencies’ support to protect corps members in Oyo

Ibadan, April 15, 2026 — The National Youth Service Corps has called on security agencies to strengthen protection for members of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II posted to Oyo State.

In a statement issued by the scheme’s spokesperson in Oyo State, Abimbola Faniyi, security personnel were urged to ensure safety along the Moniya–Ijaiye–Iseyin road to safeguard incoming participants.

She also appealed to leaders of the National Union of Road Transport Workers to caution their members against taking advantage of prospective corps members during transportation.

About 3,000 participants are expected for the three-week orientation exercise.

The programme is scheduled to run from April 22 to May 12, 2026, at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ogbakuta, along Okeho Road in Iseyin.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place on April 24 at the same venue, with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde expected to attend, while the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Iyabo Yerima, will administer the oath of allegiance.

The orientation course is designed to equip participants with essential leadership, social, and practical skills needed to navigate the challenges of the one-year national service programme.
