NSCIA Seeks Lamido of Adamawa’s Intervention on Revenue Allocation in Abia

The Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has urged the Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Muhammad Mustapha, to help facilitate the release of funds due to the Muslim community in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.

The appeal was made by Dr. Eze Eme II, NSCIA’s Vice President General for the Eastern Emirate, during a courtesy visit to the Lamido in Yola on Sunday.

Eme explained that the funds in question come from revenue generated at the cattle market located in the Lokpanta Muslim community. He noted that while the Abia State Government receives 60 percent of the proceeds, the remaining 40 percent is allocated to the Muslim community. This 40 percent, he said, is further divided among different groups—10 percent for the Hausa community, 10 percent for the Igbo Muslim community, and 10 percent for the broader Muslim community.

According to him, the share designated for the Muslim community has not been accessible, thereby limiting their ability to support Islamic programs and activities in the area.

“Your Highness, I humbly appeal on behalf of the Eastern Emirate Muslim community in Abia for your intervention in this matter,” Eme stated. “We look up to you not only as a father and mentor but also as a respected national and international leader.”

He also extended condolences to the Lamido and the people of Adamawa over the recent passing of Dr. Ahmed Mustapha, former Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service and Sardauna Adamawa.

Responding, the Lamido of Adamawa thanked the delegation for the visit and praised Dr. Eme for his dedication to the welfare of his people and his commitment to promoting Islam in Nigeria.
