The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,350 personnel across Kano State to strengthen security during and after the Yuletide celebrations.
The State Commandant, Mr Mohammed Hassan-Agalama, disclosed this on Tuesday during a news conference in Kano.
He said the deployment was aimed at protecting lives, property and critical national assets amid increased travel, heightened market activities and large social gatherings associated with the festive season.
According to Hassan-Agalama, the command has heightened its operational readiness to curb phone snatching, thuggery, banditry, kidnapping attempts and other forms of public disorder.
He explained that personnel were strategically deployed across urban, peri-urban and rural areas identified as prone to criminal activities.
“The corps has also deployed tactical teams and rapid response units to ensure continuous foot and overt patrols,” he said.
The commandant added that patrols covered entry and exit points, markets, major highways, motor parks and other public places across the state.
He said intelligence sharing and operational coordination with other security agencies had been strengthened to ensure effective joint responses to security threats.
Hassan-Agalama urged residents, market associations, transport unions, religious organisations and traditional rulers to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
He warned vandals and criminal gangs against tampering with public or private property, stressing that any breach of peace would not be tolerated.
“The corps is fully prepared to deal decisively with miscreants and bring them to justice,” he said.
He assured residents of Kano State of the NSCDC’s commitment to professionalism and effective security coverage throughout the Yuletide season and beyond.
