The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ondo State Command, has deployed 1,000 officers to strengthen security ahead of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr and Easter celebrations.
The State Commandant, Oluyemi Ibiloye, disclosed this in a statement issued in Akure by the command’s spokesperson, Daniel Aidamenbor.
Ibiloye said the deployment includes operational assets and covers key areas such as Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, worship centres, and other critical national assets and infrastructure across the state.
He noted that specialised units, including the Agro Rangers Team, Armed Squad, Female Strike Force, Rapid Tactical Squad, Anti-Vandalism Squad, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Unit, Counter-Terrorism Unit and Disaster Management Unit, would be deployed to strategic locations.
According to him, area commanders and divisional officers have been directed to intensify surveillance and visibility patrols across flashpoints, while collaborating with other security agencies for intelligence gathering and sharing.
The commandant urged officers to remain professional, vigilant and committed, while respecting the fundamental rights of citizens.
He also emphasised strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Rules of Engagement (ROE) and Service Orders in the discharge of their duties.
Ibiloye extended goodwill to Muslim faithful and called on residents to remain law-abiding and vigilant before, during and after the festive period.
