NNPP Orders Nationwide Mobilisation, Begins Membership Drive Ahead of 2027 Elections

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has directed its state executives across the country to immediately commence mobilisation of politicians with proven capacity, integrity and verifiable records ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party also ordered all state structures to begin fresh membership registration and update existing registers.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Lagos by the party’s Founder and Chairman, Board of Trustees, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam.

Aniebonam said all state and local government executives must ensure that only credible politicians who align with the values of the NNPP are accepted into the party.

“Our time was so taken in the leadership tussle between the NNPP and the Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso-led Kwankwasiya Movement.
The attempts to hijack the NNPP led to litigations that affected our ability to participate adequately in previous elections,” he said.

He added that with most of the disputes now nearing resolution, the party must refocus on its core objective of promoting good governance guided by the fear of God.

Aniebonam noted that existing members unwilling to abide by the party’s ideals were free to join other political parties.

“We hold no grudge against anyone. We appreciate and pray for those who have left. As mortals, we must forgive former members despite their betrayals,” he said.

The NNPP founder said he had put behind him the actions of Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso and Elder Buba Galadima, stressing that the party only insisted that the Kwankwasiya Movement stop using the NNPP’s name and incorrect logo.

He clarified that the authentic NNPP logo is a basket of fruits with green and white colours, not the red-coloured book symbol associated with the Kwankwasiya Movement.

“INEC cannot register two political parties with the same name and different logos,” he said.

Aniebonam advised Kwankwaso and his group to either join any registered political party of their choice or revive their previously deregistered Nigeria Alliance Party (NAP).

He explained that he founded the NNPP in 2001, while Kwankwaso joined in 2022 through the Kwankwasiya Movement and received the party’s 2023 presidential ticket under a Memorandum of Understanding that expired after the election.
