NiMet Warns Asthmatics, Others of Dusty Weather Conditions Nationwide

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has advised people with asthma and other respiratory conditions to exercise caution due to the current weather conditions across the country.

In its weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, the agency said dust particles are currently in suspension, urging the public to take necessary health and safety precautions.

NiMet also warned motorists to drive carefully during rainfall and advised airline operators to obtain airport-specific weather reports from the agency to aid effective flight planning.

Residents were encouraged to stay updated by following regular weather information released by NiMet.

According to the forecast, hazy and sunny conditions are expected from Monday to Wednesday nationwide. The north-central region is expected to experience sunny and hazy skies throughout the period.

The southern region is forecast to have sunny skies with a few patches of clouds, with prospects of afternoon or evening thunderstorms. Light rains are expected over parts of Ogun, Bayelsa, Rivers, Lagos, Delta, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states later in the day.

For Tuesday, NiMet predicted moderate dust haze over parts of Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa and Taraba states, while the rest of the northern region will experience slight dust haze.

On Wednesday, thick dust haze is anticipated over the northern region, while moderate dust haze is expected across the central region.

The southern region is expected to have sunny skies with few patches of clouds, alongside chances of isolated thunderstorms and light rains over Delta, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers states.
