The Nigerian Army has reported significant successes in its ongoing operations against terrorists and criminal elements across the country within the last 24 hours.
According to information from Army Headquarters, troops neutralised seven terrorists, rescued five kidnapped victims, apprehended four suspects, and thwarted several planned attacks during coordinated missions.
In Borno State, soldiers of 195 Battalion (Main), supported by the Civilian Joint Task Force and Hybrid Force, launched an offensive at Loskori Kura in Mafa Local Government Area, where seven Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) fighters were eliminated. Recovered items included two AK-47 rifles, two magazines with 15 rounds of ammunition, and assorted hard drugs. Two terrorists also surrendered separately to troops in Gwoza and Kukawa LGAs.
In Banki, Bama LGA, a suspected logistics supplier was arrested with mobile phones, naira and CFA currencies in his possession. Troops also intercepted a truck in Biu LGA carrying 1,360 packets of tramadol hidden in sacks. Elsewhere in Damaturu, Yobe State, another suspect was caught with ₦270,000, allegedly intended for terrorist logistics.
Troops further foiled coordinated attacks in Jere, Konduga, and Damboa LGAs of Borno through proactive surveillance and artillery response.
In Nasarawa State, personnel of Operation MESA rescued five kidnap victims in Endo community, Nasarawa LGA, after gunmen ambushed travellers heading to Abuja from Benue. Search operations continue for the remaining abducted persons.
Similarly, Operation Enduring Peace troops in Plateau State arrested a suspected kidnapper and his accomplice operating a POS machine, while they attempted to withdraw ₦3 million believed to be ransom funds.
Troops under Operation Whirl Stroke also destroyed criminal hideouts in Benue and responded to herders’ attacks in Gwer West and Ukum LGAs, where three civilians were killed and one sustained injuries.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating terrorist threats, rescuing victims, and restoring peace and stability across Nigeria.
