Niger Women Affairs Commissioner Celebrates Children’s Day with Orphans

The Niger State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hadiza Kuta, on Monday hosted a special Children’s Day celebration for orphaned children from various parts of the state, reaffirming the government’s commitment to their welfare and development.

Addressing the children during the event in Minna, Kuta explained that the programme, originally scheduled for May 27, was postponed due to the Eid-el-Kabir festivities.

She commended the state government for providing the necessary support and resources aimed at improving the living conditions of vulnerable children.

According to the commissioner, the administration remains focused on creating opportunities for every child to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances.

She noted that the celebration was organised to strengthen efforts toward child welfare and promote the overall development of young people across the state.

Describing children as the foundation of the future, Kuta stressed the importance of investing in their growth and well-being.

She added that the event paid special attention to children from orphanages, ensuring they felt a sense of belonging, care and acceptance within society.

Kuta said many of the children had experienced the pain of losing their parents at an early age, making it essential to provide them with emotional support and encouragement.

She explained that bringing the children together for the celebration was part of efforts to reassure them that they are valued members of society and that their future remains important to the government.

The commissioner disclosed that children under the care of the state government had been enrolled in school and were receiving the necessary support for their education and welfare.

She reiterated the government’s determination to ensure that vulnerable children are not left behind and have access to opportunities that will help them achieve their full potential.

Kuta also praised Governor Mohammed Bago and his wife, Fatima Bago, for their continued support toward programmes designed to improve the lives of children in the state.

Speaking further, she said the gathering offered the children an opportunity to socialise, relax and enjoy themselves in a friendly environment.

She observed that the children participated enthusiastically in various activities, while food, drinks and other refreshments were provided to make the occasion memorable.

The commissioner encouraged children to remain disciplined, focused and committed to positive values, noting that such qualities would help them become responsible citizens and future leaders.

She also called on parents, guardians and members of the public to extend greater care, compassion and support to orphaned and vulnerable children.

Kuta emphasized that children who receive proper guidance, care and encouragement are better positioned to grow into productive members of society, while reaffirming her ministry’s dedication to protecting and promoting the welfare of children throughout Niger State.
