NEPC Reaffirms Nigeria’s Strong Focus on Non-Oil Exports

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has reiterated its unwavering dedication to strengthening non-oil exports in the country.

The Coordinator of the NEPC in Imo, Mr Anthony Ajuruchi, said this at a breakfast meeting with performing and registered exporters in Owerri, on Friday.

Ajuruchi said that the meeting was convened by the NEPC to provide the platform for an interface with exporters in the state.

He said that among other things, it was necessary to chart a way forward by seeking ways to double non-oil export from the state.

“Non-oil exports are more important to us as a nation now more than ever and we must get it right because our commitment to non-oil exports is sacrosanct.

“Imo has continued to grow in leaps and bounds and we are here to see what we can do to double our efforts.

“Granted, there are challenges but they are not insurmountable and that is why we have come to the round table with performing exporters to seek ways to address them,” he said.

He assured exporters of Federal Government’s commitment to ease of doing business as evidenced by available incentives.

Those in attendance included Chief Martin Nwoga, Chief Executive Officer of Sochi Foods, a cassava processing company in Imo that has begun exporting cassava flour and “garri” flour to the U.S., as well as Mr Deola Ilechukwu, CEO of Cardif Trust, another leading exporter.
