NDLEA Seizes 589.5kg of Illicit Drugs, Arrests 107 Suspects in Adamawa

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Adamawa Command, has intercepted 589.5 kilogrammes of illicit drugs across 21 Local Government Areas between July and August 2025.

State Commander Aliyu Abubakar disclosed this during a press briefing in Yola on Wednesday. He revealed that within the two-month period, the command arrested 107 suspects, including female offenders, and impounded four vehicles used for drug trafficking.

According to him, the agency also secured 15 convictions with jail terms ranging from months to years, while 50 other cases remain at different stages of prosecution at the Federal High Court, Yola. Additionally, 23 defendants were remanded in prison custody and 14 new charges were filed.

On rehabilitation efforts, Abubakar confirmed that 12 out of 22 drug-dependent persons had been successfully treated and reintegrated into society. He also highlighted NDLEA’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, which reached over 10,700 students, teachers, and community members through awareness programs.

“During the period under review, drug integrity tests were conducted on 73 individuals, while a total of ₦340,271 was generated and duly remitted,” he added.

Meanwhile, Zonal Commander Ishaku Kwajafa praised the Adamawa command for its achievements, stressing that the progress was made possible through teamwork and dedication.

As part of the event, five senior officers were decorated with new ranks, while 12 personnel received commendation letters signed by NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Retd.).
